      Useful Information for Union City CA

      Union City, CA was incorporated in 1959. The original county seat of Alameda County and the first Courthouse built, the structure is still standing and designated as a California Historical Landmark. The first community in Union City was founded in 1850, and later merged with the nearby community of New Haven to be re-named Alvarado. With the advent of the railroad arriving in the late 1800’s and to stop annexation by the town of Fremont, the residents voted to incorporate and re-name the city once again to Union City, the name which it bears today.

      2007 saw the ground-breaking that led to the formation of the Union City Intermodal Transit Station. This new station is equipped with solar electric panels and is slated to be a pedestrian-friendly area that will include office space, retail space, a public plaza, and approximately 1800 new housing units, including a high-rise.
