Useful Information for San Carlos CA
San Carlos, CA was settled by the first non-Spanish residents following the California Gold rush in the 1850’s. No gold was found here, but the mild climate and land made it an attractive settlement area. The railroad soon ran through the area, and the establishment of a train station in 1888 helped set up San Carlos as a bedroom community for San Francisco. A short, slightly more than half-hour train ride made the area accessible to commuters.
Growth was generally slow, and it was not until 1918 that the city had its first school. 1923 saw the building of the first fire station, and local voters in 1925 chose to incorporate as the city of San Carlos. San Carlos today is a small rural feeling community that is regarded as one of the most affluent in the area.
