Useful Information for San Bruno CA
San Bruno, CA began its modern life as Clark’s Station, a stop on the Overland Mail stagecoach route. To help facilitate the stagecoach needs for fresh horses and lodging, an inn was built there in 1849. The arrival of a train station in the 1860’s helped bring new residents to the area. The arrival of the train helped move both freight and passengers.
The city itself was incorporated in 1914, and the measure to incorporate was passed successfully by the residents who desired their streets to be paved. Steady growth following World War II led to the development of many subdivisions and highways. The city today one of only two cities in the San Francisco Bay area that manages its own cable TV and internet services. San Bruno was also the birthplace and hometown for Suzanne Somers up through her graduation from Capuchino High School 1964.
